This plate is clearly well made, but it does get exceedingly hot and you need to be careful to avoid touching it. We have never needed one before, as all our previous hobs have been adjustable to very low heat, which our new Bosch one is not (BIG drawback). So we have no idea which way up you are supposed to use it, nor exactly how. The simmer plate contains no notes or advice whatsoever. It is rather irresponsible sending out such a plate without any instructions.
